Destress Yourself for the Holidays with a great attitude and preparedness.

Attitude is everything.  If you are excited about the Holidays then you will have excitement.  If you dread the Holidays then you will have a hard time. 

 

If you have the right attitude and you are prepared you will have a perfect holiday.  Be prepared by taking care of yourself, managing your activities, managing your money, and ask for help when needed.

Take care of yourself by eating right, exercising, and getting plenty of rest.

Manage your activities by making a list of all the things you have to do, prioritize the list, then fill your calendar with the tasks scheduled.

Manage your money by making a list of all the things you have to buy and people you have to buy for, decide how much money you want to spend for the total, then decide how much you will spend on each person and item, and budget accordingly.

Ask for help from your family when you have a lot to do.  Delegate your tasks.  Ask for help with meals if you are hosting.  Have guests bring their favorite dish or desert.  They will love to, I know I do when I visit family.

Destress Yourself with Family and Friends

A great way to destress yourself from work or from life in general is to call on friends or family.  Pick someone you truly enjoy being with and call them up, have a conversation, or ask them to get together. 

You can have fun by just enjoying the person you are talking to, enjoying the person you are with, or enjoying whatever you are doing.  Make it a conscious effort to leave your stress or problems behind and enjoy the moment you are in.

Don’t forget to have fun and be playful because it is in your nature.

Destress Yourself by Having Fun.

Are you having fun yet?  When is the last time you had fun or a good belly laugh? 

One of the things I love to do is shoot hoop.  I will play basketball with anyone who will play.  It is fun and I have a great time.  Another thing I love to do is hike in the forest with my dogs.  I am very lucky because I live in the forest. 

Search for your fun and laughter.  Seek it everyday because that is what makes life worth living for, well that and love.

Spend time and hang out with your friends and family and I guarantee that you will feel destressed


Don’t forget to have fun and be playful because it is in your nature.

It is Friday! Yeah! Now you can take a break from work stress. How do you take a break from job stress? Well, you leave your work at work and enjoy your weekend. If you take workplace stress home you may cause yourself anxiety or depression. If you are having a hard time leaving your stress at work then you may want to learn relaxation techniques or meditation to relieve your stress.

I’ve read that our mind is the most powerful thing we own. I believe
this because we have control over our thoughts and no one can take
that from us. Unfortunately, even though we have the power to control
our minds, we do not. Rather, we let our minds take conrtrol of us.
When we are stressed we play our stress out over, and over in our
heads. For example, someone at our work does something and we get
upset. When this occurs we may replay the scenario in our mind over, and
over again. Then we start to talk to other people about what a
horrible person has done to us.

When you do this you let your mind take over you, and your feelings.
This increases your stress. Why do we dwell on this horrible person,
and this horrible deed, if we dislike this person and this deed so
much, especially if it will increase our anger or ruin our mood? If we just
take control of our thoughts, we can think of people we love, and things we
enjoy. Or, we can focus on the goals that we want in our life.

When we can’t remove our thoughts from something so negative then we are
letting those thoughts, and emotions take over our life. We are
saying, “This insignificant person who I allow to make me angry is
more important to me than the people and the things I love.”

If we think of the things we love, and are grateful for, and think of
the things we want in our life, we choose to change what is important
to us.

You have a choice. You could choose to focus on the negative things
in your life, or on the positive things in you life. You can choose to
focus on what you have and are grateful for, or you can choose to focus
on what you don’t have, and what you are ungrateful for. You could
choose to think of the worst thing that could happen in any scenario,
or you could choose to focus on the best thing that could happen in
any scenario. It is your choice. If you choose the negative you
choose an unhappy mood, an uhappy day, an unhappy week, or even an
unhappy life. And, if you choose the positive, you choose a happy mood,
a happy day, a happy week, and a happy life.

Managing your stress creates success and happiness. If you take
control of your thoughts, you take control of your feelings. If you
take control of your feelings, you take control of your stress, which in turn
creates success and happiness.

The average person may let their minds flow on auto pilot, which may
be full of negative thoughts. Dare to be above the average, and create
a habit of controlling your mind and make your thoughts positive.

Destress Yourself by Intentionally Enjoying The Moment You Are In

A great way to Destress Yourself is to intentionally enjoy the moment you are in.  Often times we are thinking of all the things we have to do or what happened yesterday.  If you can intentionally take the time to enjoy the moment you are in you will discover a great way to Destress Yourself.

When you are eating some chocolate or a delicious meal, notice every bite and focus on the moment, and enjoy.  When you are having a conversation with someone you really love, or like, notice the time you are spending together, and enjoy.

One of my favorite things to do, while in my office, is putting my feet up on my desk, leaning back in my leather chair, and just quieting my mind.  Sounds simple but it is great! 

Give it a try, put it into practice, and you will be able to Destress Yourself at any time and any where.

How to Destress Yourself in a Minute

Hello all…

I just want to share with you a way that you can Destress Yourself in a minute.  First, find yourself sitting upright and relaxed.  Second, inhale slowly, filling your lungs to full capacity, like balloons.  Third, hold your inhalation for three seconds.  Fourth, exhale, imagining yourself releasing all of your tension as you breath out.  Do this three to six times.  Finally, sit for a moment and see if you can feel your heart beat. 

When we do this exercise we relax and take our thoughts, which might be racing due to stress, out of our head and focus into our body.  This can be done at anytime and anywhere but the most desirable place would be at home when alone.  Make this a regular practice and you will notice your ability to Destress Yourself immediately.

Destress Yourself

This evening I was invited to speak to a group of young women about my education and career so that they may have some idea of what to expect when they graduate from school.  I was the last speaker of three.  The first two women spoke about how hard life was and it takes hard work.  When I got up to speak I told the young women to search their hearts for what they love and do that for a living.  I told them that life is not hard, it is what you make of it.  I told them to use their creativity, have faith, and be grateful for what they have.  I told them that life is wonderful and can be very easy, it is all how we look at things.

Let us find joy in the journey!
